This FAQ assumes a basic understanding of AyaNova.  If you are new to the software, please review the AyaNova website and their FAQ page, preferably before reading this one.

Q:  Can you help us upgrade from AyaNova 3, or move our existing system onto your servers if we're already running AyaNova 4?

A:  Yes.  In fact, upgrade from v3 or transfer from v4 is included free in the base setup package!

Q:  Can we try your service out with our real data from our existing system without interfering with our current operations?

A:  Yes!  We'll set you up with a free evaluation.

Q:  Can you help us configure AyaNova's security groups and other settings if we're new?

A:  Yes.  The base installation package comes with 2 hours of phone consultation, configuration assistance, or other help, and you can buy additional time.

Q:  What software can use to access the AyaNova system on HaveAByte?  (Can we use the full software, or only the web interface?)

A:  AyaNova comes with a full-featured .NET software application which can be easily connected to your database on HaveAByte.  Optional features are the Web Browser Interface (WBI) which can be accessed with any standard web browser (and even works with some mobile devices.)  Also available is the Mobile Browser Interface (MBI), which is optimized for all mobile devices.

Q:  What are the feature differences between the software application, web interface and mobile interface?

A:  The software application is full-featured, having every feature in the system.  One notable one is the ability to create any kind of named view filter to show lists of data in different ways.  The Web Interface can use the filters, but they cannot be defined there.  The look and feel is a little different for the web interface due to the different kinds of widgets, but overall is generally the same as the full software.  It also has some additional configuration screens for customizing some of the pages that are unique to the web interface.  The Mobile Interface is more simple and lean, optimized for Scheduled Users and enables those users to focus on completing work scheduled for them.

Q:  Are there performance reductions by running the software over the net, or maximum transfer limitations?

A:  We've studied this thoroughly.  First, the WBI has been optimized for maximum speed by transferring less data to the client.  The full software does send larger data sets back and forth to the server, but if you have a standard broadband connection it will likely feel no different than running it locally.  However, if you are on dial-up, the WBI may be required for acceptable speed.

Each server hosting AyaNova customers has a limited number of clients per server, and 2000 GB of data transfer per month.  Typical usage for a 5 user system is generally less than 1 GB per month, but even so, usage is constantly monitored to ensure the server is not overloaded.  Managed, dedicated servers are also available if you have a high number of users.  If your usage on a shared server exceeds around 50 GB of transfer per month, a dedicated server may be required - we can provide them, or work with you by grouping you with lower-usage clients to keep you on the shared servers and reduce your cost.

The servers have an 8 megabit per second (or, 1 megabyte per second) transfer speed up and down per session, and a 100 mbit connection to the Internet (meaning around 12 sessions at once can sustain a full 8 megabit transfer speed.)  When you're typing data into a form, AyaNova isn't transferring anything.  So, given the burst nature of AyaNova, as well as the fact that it doesn't really require even the full 8 megabits for maximum performance means great performance, all the time for everyone.
